Make Me a Christian Supermodel!

by Dr. Craig

Pop culture is obsessed with physical appearances. We are constantly bombarded with images of celebrities to model ourselves after. This obsession with appearances results in feelings of inadequacy and low self esteem. Many girls literally starve themselves in order to achieve a body image that matches what they see on TV. Moreover, we are prevented from finding true love as long as we believe that our partner must look like Angelina and Brad.

The Bible promotes an alternative notion of beauty. After each day of creation, God looked at what He had made and declares, “It is good.” We have all similarly marveled at nature’s beauty when looking out at the sky or the crashing ocean wave’s. Nature is beautiful without needing cosmetic surgery or a fashion makeover. Now, while man is a part of nature, he is imbued with a divine essence. This is noted at Genesis 1:31. After God creates man, He looks at what he made and this time declares, “It is very good.” Nature is good, but man is very good!

Man’s true beauty is not in our jeans, but in our soul. We are each special in our own way. When you tap into your inner beauty and declare it to the world, others will be enamored. The supermodel’s beauty will fade, but inner beauty will only grow as you mature. Find your inner beauty and show it to the world and you’re on your way to being a Christian supermodel!
